Katarína Kandráčová
designer
As a child, my favourite toys were a pencil and paper—I could spend hours sitting quietly and drawing. Although my early sketches were never preserved, it was clear to those around me what my future might hold.
After completing my Master’s degree in Architecture and Urbanism in Slovakia, my professional journey led me from Bratislava to Prague, and later to Vancouver. This path has been shaped by a strong curiosity for culture, thoughtful design, and a deep respect for place. I seek to learn from different landscapes, architectural traditions, and ways of living, and I value architecture that responds sensitively to its context and community—listening carefully to the land and its stories.
I am especially grateful to contribute to an Indigenous-led studio in Vancouver, where design becomes a shared dialogue rooted in respect, learning, and responsibility.
Despite my international experience, I remain deeply connected to my roots in Slavic folklore, which continue to inform my design thinking and appreciation for craft, nature, and narrative.
Beyond architecture, I love exploring new places, spending time outdoors, and finding beauty in small, everyday details. Road trips, multi-day hikes, snowboarding, or attending a dance class are activities that can always make my day.
